SDG 3 · Good health and well-being
Community Health Screening
Over the years, PAHAM has screened more than 200 communities and organisations, catching undiagnosed conditions early and connecting people to care.

What we screen for
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis C
- Body mass index (BMI)
Reach and plans
These screenings have helped identify undiagnosed health conditions early and provided life-saving referrals to primary healthcare facilities. In 2026, the organisation plans to extend these screening services to 20 additional communities, further strengthening preventive healthcare access.
Health education alongside screening
We provide health education in schools and communities, with special attention to menstrual hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, and general wellness — including mental health support for young girls.
200+ communities and organisations screened to date · 20 more planned for 2026 across the Volta Region.
From screening to care

- 2
Screening
Trained health workers check blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis B and C status, and BMI.
- 3
Counselling
Each participant receives their results with plain-language guidance on what they mean.
- 4
Referral
Anyone with a flagged result is referred directly to a primary healthcare facility for follow-up.
